Being Human - Season 1

a house. One of the many, anonymous terraced rows of a rather dreary suburb UK (Bristol, in this case). This was the castle of Annie, what would be his love nest to share with her boyfriend almost-husband Owen. Instead, it has become his grave, because Annie was only 22 years, died by falling down the stairs of the house. But he continued to live there because becomes a ghost.
His roommates called Mitchell and George . The first is a vampire, a werewolf second.

E 'Human Being how it begins, and without too many turns of phrase we learn that the three main characters are supernatural beings who seek in any way to keep in touch with their humanity, and to carve out their place in the world.

Annie, gentle and naive, trying to be seen by the people and not only by his two friends, to become real in some way, and find out what is still unresolved that holds it tied to the terrestrial world.

Mitchell, vampire for a century, is plagued by the perennial dilemma of "kill or not kill?" Constantly torn between his instincts - the thirst for blood is awfully similar to a heroin addiction - and his desire to live a normal life, trying to keep a low profile by working in a hospital, as George.

George: the werewolf most atypical of the world. Complexed, shy and insecure, a classic nerd, in fact. And the fact that two years ago was bitten by a werewolf, being the victim of what he calls the "curse" that forced him to transformed into a terrifying anthropomorphic wolf on nights of full moon ("my time" as he says), certainly does not help his problems.

The home for all three is a oasis, a refuge for the world outside, is often hostile. There are no big bad over the top to Russell Edgington, in this series, but all look like the bad guys hiding behind anonymous and innocuous, such as over the large face ruddy and jovial of Herrick, the creator of Mitchell, who pretends to be a good-natured agent police.

Mitchell is struggling with an organization vampire headed by its Herrick, who wants at all costs to get it back in its ranks, and with Lauren, the girl he bled and then transformed that now is a loose cannon and that will cause a series of troubles.
George, after meeting the werewolf that bit him, but turns out to be a tragic disappointment, tries to reconcile its potentially lethal nature of the attraction he feels for his colleague, Nina.
Annie discovers, despite himself, that his dream of love was not as perfect as he thought and that the tragic fall down the stairs in reality ... is by no means accidental. And then a ghost
established over the years 80's through Annie will find its way to the afterlife, and a terrible misunderstanding that leads Mitchell to be branded as a pedophile from all over the neighborhood, complete with a written bomb threats and rotten vegetables thrown at the poor house, a boy 12-year-old Mitchell must resurrect, and a series of poltergeist triggered by the shock of years to have found out who is really guilty of his death.

But the worst manifests itself in the last two episodes : the organization is recruiting as many human vampire can turn to, because Herrick plans to transform the world into a kingdom in the image of the vampire, with few human subject and for the nourishment of the immortals. A coup, in fact, run with quiet cunning behind the formal aspect of the clan, an agency of the funeral, as it happens. Soon, Mitchell & co. Herrick wife discover that the philosophy of "You're either with me or I'll kill you" ... and this will lead to the final battle. Being Human

mix well scene absolutely hilarious - pure comedy killer UK - dosed with action, horror and fantasy elements, dramatic moments, not to mention a moment of reflection on the difficulty of living being different - but also the value of life and death (remember the old lady former flame of Mitchell, who rebels against the idea of being transformed because it is an affront to the natural rotation life / death, and because he prefers death to the evolution of the crystallization of a ' immortality cold and lifeless). All firmly planted in reality with ease and simplicity.

You could do much better with the special effects (sometimes to levels of second recitation of the media, especially the werewolf), but I imagine that the budget is very poor, and squalid with the end credits ... But we can get over it.
Another thing that left me a bit 'puzzled is the fact that vampires appear to be truly human with the added vice of blood, or anything superforce superspeed, eat, drink, smoke and piss and there are also the other thing. But how? A bit 'of otherness takes, heck. I understand the need to make it as real as possible, but a minimum of adherence to the mythology of the case takes. Some fees, however, are met - those strangely less rational: crosses, stakes and the image that is not reflected.

The first episodes were apparently a bit 'lacking in terms of suspense and plot horizontal (gave a little' effect 'not I know where I'm going to ward off ") but the last I've changed my mind. The plot there 'and it is also interesting. The fact
season closes with some disturbing questions: the organization will continue to hunt for Mitchell? Nina, George's girlfriend, whom he accidentally scratched, will, in turn, a werewolf? And who is the agent that collects delusional statements of Owen, and then call the unknown Professor Jaggat saying "we found them?

But the strength of this show is definitely the characters. It 's like once lived together with Mitchell, Annie and George, from the early scenes.
Annie: Can not become attached to her, to her incredible kindness and his imbranataggine ghost without the instruction manual (unforgettable when you exercise to make the frightening rumors).

George: I confess that I see in him my friend, like him very much, and it makes me laugh every time I hear him speak with his slight stutter. George inspires me so tenderly. Apparently fearful, it is actually quite the opposite. You will discover other sides of him, unexpected but equally interesting.

Mitchell ... Mitchell, who say? He curls blacks, wears black leather and fingerless gloves as well as mine: taken immediately! No, Seriously: if his credentials as a vampire (vampire ex-soldier in the war, nostalgic for his humanity, wanting to do more harm) eerily reminiscent of some Bill "Suuckay" Compton, in Actually he is completely different. A solar-type (as can be said about a vampire), with a wonderful smile and sense of humor to sell, and a touch of cynicism that marks the boundary between the cool and emo-vampire complainer (Mitchell and definitely belongs to the first category ).

PS: course, Americans have felt compelled to do a remake of this series, as with any other product that does not come from their pretty little heads fertile kissed by the Lord (a point I'm surprised that they have remade La Vita E 'Bella version of Hollywood). Too bad the USA Mitchell does not have the charm of the UK, but is a copy of Dexter: link (it is the one on the right).
Epic fail.

rating on the season: 7 1 / 2
